Blog by Liz from Woy Woy: On our footprintsforpeace walk we will cover the distance from Coramba to Coffs Harbour today. It is a shorter walk of about 16k and we have made arrangements to meet short distance walkers at the outskirts of Coffs at 3pm. This means a SLEEP IN (just for once).
As there is still time after breakfast and packing up we continue making peace cranes, our aim is 1000, we are up to 70. We leave at around 11 and have a pleasant walk along a back road. As we are having a break for a sip of water, a very concerned old couple walk a fair distance from their house up to their front gate because they think , four women lying on the ground can only mean there has been an accident.
We assure them that we are all well and provide them with information about the walk. At the outskirts of Coffs Harbour the group is being met by Graham from the CH Advocate, this means providing more information and a photo shoot. Obviously he had done his homework, and our group is pleased with the article in next day’s paper. In CH Jetty a group of the newly formed Greens welcome us. Again, the story of the message stick we carry all the way to present to Kevin Rudd in Canberra is being told, as well as the story of Sudako and the peace cranes.
When we arrive at the caravan park, we just have time to pitch our tents before night falls. Most of us go to bed early after another enjoyable and fulfilling footprintsforpeaceday.
