As world leaders meet in Durban, South Africa to discuss efforts to tackle global warming, Friends of the Earth is calling on the rich developed countries, which have historically emitted the most greenhouse gases, to agree to urgent and dramatic cuts in their emissions starting NOW. You can follow how the meeting is progressing via the Friends of the Earth International network.

Resources Friends of the Earth International has produced a great introductory booklet to climate change and the COP.

You can view it by clicking here.

The booklet is aimed at communities and non-specialist audiences, and covers the basics on climate change from a climate justice perspective, including:

  • what is climate change and what causes it
  • why action by governments is needed
  • the problem of corporate capture and how vested interests are undermining climate action and driving forward false solutions
  • the real solutions to the climate crisis, and how to achieve these we need to build peoples' power to hold our governments accountable and deliver system change.
Please share it with your allies, local activists and networks.

Take Action Please put pressure on international delegations and lobbyists at the UN climate talks by taking one of our cyberactions...
